However, as he celebrates his Award nominations, Zakes Bantwini has also announced that he is retiring from making music.
AFRIMA released the names of nominees for this year’s AFRIMA Awards, and Zakes Bantwini received four nominations for his song Osama featuring Kasango. The singer and his fans were excited, and in an interview with one of the local papers, Zakes said he was overwhelmed by the support he had received. The musician was nominated for Best Male Artist in Southern Africa, Best Group or Duo in African Electro, Best Artist and Best DJ. Other artists like Makhadzi, A-Reece, Costa Titch and many more.

Earlier this month at the SAMAs, Zakes Bantwini finally got his flowers after a long career of getting nominated. The musician had a lot to say about the awards after the show as he said it was now a shadow of its former glory. The artist said that most nominated artists did not attend and received his Award with a heavy heart. Many artists have accused the SAMAs of being corrupt and a money-making scheme and many talents are boycotting the show.
Zakes Bantwini is quitting music
The musician said he is working on his last project before he finally quits music. This is after 16 years of working as a singer and producer. However, the artist will still have his job as a DJ and will only stop making his own music. He has released hits over the years of his career like Osama, Amanga, Wasting my time, Uzalo and many more.

In his interview with The Daily Sun, Zakes Bantwini noted that the nominations came at the right time in his career. The musician went on to say that after many years of making music, he is finally receiving recognition for it. The musician is going up against Grammy-nominated artists like Burna Boy, Diamond Platnum and many others in the categories.
