Emtee dumps the Saftas’ in the eleventh hour as he vanishes before live performance
No doubt Emtee is trending for the wrong reasons just like always. The star singer who seems to have found his feet again amongst South African finest has left many talking after he pulled a shocker.
Despite being one of the star performers of the controversial awards Emtee didn’t show up. Rapper Emtee went Awol on singer Ami Faku a few minutes before their televised performance at the SA Film and Television Awards (Saftas) last weekend.
The duo was scheduled to perform their song Lala Ngoxolo as part of the in memoriam segment of the show that was being simulcast on SABC3 and Mzansi Magic for the first time in the Saftas’ 15-year history.

The rapper has had a long history of fighting for his place in the industry and is now leaving fans questioning if he has changed or not.
According to entertainment commentator and television host Phil Mphela, Emtee was set to perform alongside SAMA nominated songstress Ami Faku at the recent SAFTAs. The two were to perform their collaboration with Lala Ngoxolo during the “in memoriam” portion of the event.
Mphela reported that the two artists rehearsed for the performance days before and minutes before the performance, Emtee suddenly disappeared leaving Ami Faku to deliver the performance by herself. It was also reported that Emtee disappeared with the costume he was given by the Costume, Makeup & Styling Department.
Emtee has had a rocky time in the SA Hip Hop industry over the years but has since announced that he has turned his life around and is becoming a better man for himself and his family. Emtee’s departure from popular record label Ambitiouz Entertainment caused quite the stir in the industry with the rapper going back and forth with the label on social media.
The rapper’s Logan album was his first independent release under his own label and it was well-received overall and fellow fans and rappers supported the rapper. One of his single’s from the album Long Way was recently the biggest song on the continent where he beat out African Giants Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Sarkodie for the top spot.
