Celebrated Afrikaans writer 97 years old Elsa Joubert died in Cape Town.
Elas Joubert was born on 19 October 1992, she was married to Klaas Steytler an author and journalist who died in 1998. Elsa is survived by three children, two daughters and one son. By the time of her death she was living in Oranjezicht, Cape Town.
She rose to prominence with her novel Die swerfjare van Poppie Nongena, which was translated into 13 languages and also staged as a drama.
