Dumi Masilela’s killers sentenced to life in prison
Men convicted of killing Dumisani Masilela have been sentenced to life in prison. The five men identified as Bongani Masombuka 34, Sfundo Nkosi 30, Khumbuzo Mukhuba 27, Brian Makhubedu 24 ans Mashudu Malema 31 appeared before the judge in the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.
The Judge presiding over the case Judge Mohkine Mosopa sentenced each of the five men to life imprisonment. Judge Mosopa said he did not find any convincing reason to pass a sentence lighter than life in prison. The murderers were found guilty of murder a week ago. The court had investigated and found out that the five convicted had hijacked another car earlier before attempting to hijack the rhythm city actor and shooting him.
Reports confirm that Dumi drove to the nearest hospital seeking help. Despite going through a surgery in an attempt to save his life he later died that day as a result of the wound. The five were travelling in a Toyota Quantum hijacked in Mpumalanga, and Jeep stolen earlier that night when they spotted the actor’s Golf 7 in Tembisa, Ekurhuleni.

Dumisani’s mother Sabatha Masilela confirmed that she is still struggling to deal with her son’s death. She also said she is pained by the fact that her son died after being married for only two months. On top of that Sabatha Masilela had just lost her husband and one cannot imagine the pain
What also hurt the mother of the late is that she knows some of the men who killed her son. She taught some members of the gang that attacked her son. On the contrary she is glad justice has been served although it will not bring her son back, these criminals will pay for what they have done. No one has the right to end someone’s life and it still hurts Mzansi that one of the talented actors was murdered by hijackers.
