A new study has revealed people who drink alcohol are at a high risk of contracting corona virus. Drinking alcohol doesn’t kill corona virus.
Recent studies show that men who drink are at a high risk of dying from Covid-19. Demographic figures in Italy, China and South Korea suggest that men inherently have health risks that are greater than women. Some of the issues raised are that men smoke and drink in all the countries where the studies were carried out. According to WHO 48% of men above 15 are smokers where as only 2% of women smoke in China. Men in those countries die of heart disease, cancer, diabetes and respiratory diseases between ages 30 and 70.
The Ministry of Health in South Africa has advised people against drinking alcohol during the times we are living in because it weakens the immune system.
The assertion by the Department of Health is corroborated by other researches. British Society of Immunology says alcohol affects the way health gut microbes interact with the immune system. Alcohol also disrupts the gut barrier, allowing more bacteria to pass into the blood. Excessive drinking reduces the number and function of three important kinds of cells in your immune system–macrophages, T and C cells.
According to the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health, when corona virus enters the body, it replicates itself. In the absence of a strong immune system, the replication goes on unhindered and it results in a severe failure of the functions of some body parts. Failure of performance of some of the body parts results in death.
