Stella Immanuel is a Cameroonian- American doctor who made claims that anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine is a cure for coronavirus, a claim classified as misinformation by social media platforms, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
Dr Immanuel claimed to have treated over 350 COVID-19 patients with a 100% recovery rate, a stat applauded by USA President Donald Trump who himself is a fan of the anti-malaria drug.
“Nobody needs to get sick. This virus has a cure – it is called hydroxychloroquine, I have treated over 350 patients and not had one death,” said Dr Immanuel.

In 2020 Stella Immanuel courted controversy when she made a viral video claiming to have healed Covid-19 patients with an anti-malaria drug.
“She said that she had tremendous success with hundreds of different patients, I thought her voice was an important voice but I know nothing about her,” he said.
Stella Immanuel posted a video on Twitter asking the patients she cured of Covid-19 to come forward and share their testimonies.
“If you don’t speak up we are getting trashed,” she says, encouraging them to use a hashtag when they post their video messages.
