The MTV Video Music Awards held at the Prudential Centre in Newark, New Jersey, was a sight to behold as all eyes were on the half-South African rapper, Doja Cat. She made a grand entrance in a dress that seemed to be made of mere threads. The event was particularly significant as it celebrated the 50th anniversary of hip hop.
Doja Cat, known for her hit single “Paint the Town Red”, is not just a rapper but also a fashion icon. She seemed to be celebrating Halloween early as she graced the VMAs pink carpet in a custom couture gown designed by New York-based luxury designer Monse. The gown, made of spider web threads, was nothing short of spectacular.

Dressed in a business suit jacket paired with glasses and red boots, Doja Cat gave an electrifying performance. She performed a medley of “Attention”, “Paint the Town Red” and “Demons” from her highly anticipated fourth studio album, “Scarlet”.

Awards and Honors
The event was also notable for the awards given out. The Best Afrobeats award was won by Nigeria’s Rema and American singer Selena Gomez for their song “Calm Down”. They managed to beat stiff competition from several other talented artists.
Taylor Swift bagged the award for Video of the Year for the second time in a row. In addition to this, she also won Song of the Year, Best Pop, and Best Direction for her song “Anti-Hero”.
Shakira’s Special Moment
Shakira made a stunning appearance at the VMAs pink carpet with her two sons Milan and Sasha. She received the Video Vanguard Award for being the best-selling Latina artist of all time after delivering a medley performance of her hit songs.
