NAMA is Namibia’s premier annual music awards ceremony, recognising musical excellence across all genres, from traditional to contemporary as well as paying tribute to the various facets of music production including, engineering and video production.
The 10th edition of the NAMA have been taking place virtually since Saturday, 15th August, and are scheduled to end on Saturday, 14th November 2020. This means four categories have been awarded over a full weekend, two on Saturday and two on Sunday since August, and public voting for Best Pan African Artist of the Year closed back in May already.
DJ Zinhle tweeted gratitude for the award and made sure to tag her fellow artists who were featured on, Umlilo, the song that earned them the prestigious award.

It is surprising that this is the first award DJ Zinhle has won for her music considering her career started around 2004. Initially, DJ Zinhle wanted to be a TV presenter and never had any aspirations of being a DJ, until her brother’s passion for mixing vinyl’s rubbed off on her and her love and passion for being a DJ grew. She got her first break as a resident DJ on a youth dance show called Jika Majika that aired on SABC 1.
Despite numerous hit songs and achievements as a female DJ, she had never won anything until now…and she won it in Namibia even. At least other countries are appreciating her.
