The famous club DJ and producer DJ Tira and the outspoken former Ukhozi FM DJ Ngizwe Mchunu have reconciled after a long feud.
The two had fallen out after Mchunu slammed DJ Tira’s cider drink, Bearing Cyder, which he had been endorsing as “urine”.
In a viral video Mchunu said of the DJ Tira’s cider: “DJ Tira, you have let me down. You make us drink urine, and you call it a cider.
“Makoya Bearing [as DJ Tira is fondly known], listen to me, you are not the centre of everything, and everything does not revolve around you.”
The controversial ex-Ukhozi FM host also accused DJ Tira of blocking the opportunities for emerging artists at his famous Durban Rocks Fact, which draws thousands of fans and top artists from across the country.
When the two were invited to attend a community event organised by Nkosinathi Cele, a KwaZulu-Natal businessman in June 2022, DJ Tira told the crowd that he was offended by Mchunu’s comments.
Showing his displeasure and discontent with Mchunu’s critique, DJ Tira even declined to take pictures with Cele along with the former Ukhozi FM host.
However, during a house-warming party organised by Cele in Shelley Beach in Port Shepstone on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast on Saturday last week, DJ Tira and Mchunu were seen embracing and laughing with each other.
When on stage entertaining the crowd, DJ Tira was heard saying: “Ngizwe, we wanna party.”
Although DJ Tira and Mchunu did not respond to requests for comment, event organiser Cele confirmed that the pair is on good terms again.
“They have settled their issues. It was pleasing to see them joking and amusing the crowd during the event,” Cele said.
“I am glad that things are okay [between them] because it would have been uncomfortable for me if I book them for gigs but see them avoiding each other under one roof.
