Early Life and Education
Dj Sliqe comes from a Venda family, and he was the eldest among three siblings. He was an ‘A’ student in both primary and high school but was always business oriented. His love for music began at a tender age, and he always wished to be a DJ and producer. By the time he got to grade 10 he was already a DJ for his school. After metric, he proceeded to the University of Johannesburg (UJ) where his entrepreneurial skills began to develop.
Career
While at UJ, Lutendo studied Logistics and was pretty much concerned about the profitability of everything. During his time at UJ, Lutendo and his friend taught themselves how to DJ and mix beats. Soon they began throwing gigs which became regular gigs, and they started getting money which they used to book popular DJs and artists. Later on, DJ Sliqe became a resident DJ at clubs around the area such as Club Sway in Sandton and Stones in Melville. Afterwards, he dropped out of university to pursue his DJ career.
When did DJ Sliqe get a break through?
Dj Slique’s break through came in 2015 when he co-produced his hit track ‘Do like I do’ with Psyfo. The song featured SA hip hop’s heavy weight Kwesta as well as Flabba and received massive airplay. Resultantly, DJ Sliqe came into the spotlight with interviewers battling to have him on their shows. He decided to remix ‘Do like I do ‘ and the remix was sicker than the OG. Ultimately, it won the award for ‘Best Remix of The Year’. The remix included Nadia Nakai, L Tido, Reason and Riky Rick.

After the success of his debut single, DJ Sliqe went on to release singles and finally dropped his debut album ‘Injayam Vol 1’ in September 2016. The album was a 14 track collection which 18 artists contributed to make a masterpiece. Furthermore, he released ‘Injayam Vol 2 in 2018’ and several singles in 2019. In 2020, he finally released the much awaited EP titled ‘Championship Music which is a five track EP.
