DJ Citi Lyts, whose real name is Sandile Nkululeko Mkhize died after being involved in a fatal hijack situation in Soweto last night. DJ Lyts is a younger brother to the late Pro Kid, who suffered a severe and fatal seizure in August 2018. The South African Hip Hop is reeling over the news of his death.
DJ Citi Lyts has given us powerful hits like Vura and Shishliza. According to reports, DJ Citi Lyts was closing up his business in Vilakazi street Soweto at around 10 pm when a group of armed robbers shot him and stole his money.
The police are still awaiting more details on the incident. His father also couldn’t make comments as he is still waiting for more details.
DJ Citi Lyts co-owned a restaurant named Ezio. Cafe in Vilakazi street, and he had also started a record company called Nu Paradice Entertainment. The man was a hard worker, just like his brother Pro Kid whose real name was Linda Mkhize; he also died at the tender age of 37. Pro Kid was also a very successful Hip Hop artist, and his music influenced a lot of young rappers in this country.
The death of DJ Citi Lyts has shaken social media and fellow artists. This comes as the country is still mourning the death of Kuli Roberts, who was also in the entertainment industry.
DJ Citi Lyts was just 32 years old at his death. A family spokesperson Nhlanhla Lux Dlamini confirmed the news to Drum Magazine, saying DJ Citi Lyts was pronounced dead around 12h30 am on Monday Morning.
Nhlanhla Lux Dlamini also mentioned, “four guys came out of nowhere, stopped them and shot them in their heads.”
He went on to say it was an ambush and that the family is still trying to process what has transpired. We will keep you up to date with more details as they come up.
