Didintle Khunou, a revered actor, is set to grace the screens of SABC 1’s Generations: The Legacy. Known for her remarkable performances in shows like Soon Comes Night on Netflix and A Soweto Love Story, Khunou has garnered a collection of awards and accolades for her work both on stage and screen. Notably, she received the Naledi and Broadway World Online Awards for her outstanding lead performance in The Colour Purple Musical.
Khunou’s debut appearance on Generations: The Legacy is scheduled for mid-June. In the soapie, she will portray the character of Tumelo Gcabashe, a high-powered financial expert with connections to business and criminal elites.
As we anticipate Khunou’s arrival, the show also bids farewell to two other talented actors. Muzi Mthabela, who plays Nkosiyabo Cele, and Ronnie Nyakale, who portrays Cosmo Diale, are embarking on indefinite hiatuses to explore new creative avenues. Mthabela’s exit storyline promises spice and intrigue, while Nyakale will remain on the show until August 28.
Mthabela’s journey in the soapie began in 2021, shortly after his departure from e.TV’s now-defunct series Imbewu, where he portrayed the character Menzi.
In a surprising twist, Mthabela has also ventured into radio. He recently joined Ukhozi FM as one of the hosts for the station’s YouTube podcast, Ukhozi FM TV, alongside Neliswa Cele.
Additionally, reports suggest that Mthabela is set to appear in season two of Mzansi Magic’s My Brother’s Keeper as Mshengu’s brother. The show, produced by Rhythm World Productions, was recently renewed for another season. Mthabela’s dramatic entry into the series is slated for May 10.
