Deputy Health Minister declares the whole of Zimbabwe a coronavirus hotspot
Health and childcare Deputy Minister Dr John Mangwiro, has declared the entire Zimbabwe a Covid-19 hotspot. This comes after claims that Harare the capital city has become a hotspot of the virus itself. Like it is not enough Zimbabwe is also on the list with the eleven African countries that should not visit England due to the high number of Covid-19 infections.
The Department of Transport in England says, “ Entry into England is not on the cards to those who are coming from any Southern African country in the last ten days including Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Eswatini, Zambia, Malawi, Lesotho, Mozambique and Angola-as well as Seychelles and Mauritius.”

Despite the accelerated rise of infections and deaths, Zimbabweans still perceive the pandemic as venial. With some commenting on twitter;
“How’s this possible? We haven’t reached those levels, have we?”
“Yes cases are up but we cannot say the whole country is a hotspot…..major cities are hit because of high population”
It seems Zimbabweans believe in seeing the fatalities before accepting to take precautions to this pandemic. This address comes after the Minister of Home affairs and cultural Heritage addressed the nation after Covid-19 lockdown non-compliance. Three days after the commencing of the national lockdown the situation seems to be getting worse which has made the nation a hotspot.
This is confirmed by the decrease in recovery rate from 95% to 64.7%. As of 7 January 2021, 871 new cases are on the books with only 117 recoveries.
Hopefully the Pfizer vaccine works against the Covid-19 mutation variant which is negatively affecting the lives of many Zimbabweans.
