The DSTV Content Creator Awards debuted this year with their first Award show happening last night on the 10th of September. The show had many controversial Awards, one of which is the Podcast of the Year Award, which many feel went to the wrong person. Couple Mpoomy and Brenden Ledwaba won the Award, and MacG’s Podcast and Chill with MacG was snubbed from the show.
Social media influencer Mpoomy Ledwaba and her husband, gospel artist Brenden Praise, started their YouTube podcast show where they mainly focus on family. The two have shared their experiences as a couple and have had guests from their families join in on the show a couple of times. The two are one of the most unproblematic celebrity couples in Mzansi and address matters that affect families and what they have gone through in their marriage with the world.

At the Award show last night, the couple competed for the Podcast of the Year Award with other podcasts, and were announced winners. However. Their win was met with so much backlash, not just to them but to the show. The main reason is that the most talked about Podcast in South Africa is MacG’s Podcast and Chill, which was not nominated for the Award. Many people in Mzansi feel that MacG deserved that win and that he was not appointed further proves that the Awards shows are not fair and are a joke.

Many people have disputed the Ledwaba’s win at the show, saying that MacG had more numbers, and some are even saying they do not know the Podcast Mpoomy Ledwaba hosts, and neither have they heard of it. Other fans who have listened to Ledwaba’s Podcast and watched it have positive comments on the quality of her content but are of the mind that she deserved the win at the show. One fan pulled up the rankings of Apple Podcasts, and Mpoomy’s Wisdom and Wellness podcast is ranked second after Jay Shetty’s On Purpose. MacG’s Podcast and Chill is ranked third on Apple; according to this, the winners are well deserving.
