The Minister of Health and Child Care Dr Obadiah Moyo has just advised the public that a lodge in Victoria Falls has just been condoned off after a woman who once stayed there tested positive to Corona Virus upon her arrival in the UK. The Minister made the directive to have the lodge closed and condoned off, with the staff put in self isolation to eliminate the risk that the woman might have spread Corona Virus within the lodge.
Zimbabwe is yet to record a positive Corona Virus case and this case might open a can of worms. There are chances that the woman in question was positive when she was staying in Zimbabwe. The Minister did not address why she was not tested whilst she was in Zimbabwe given tourists are high risk. It all points to Zimbabwe’s fragile health system that is not effective at detecting Corona Virus. The public fears the Victoria Falls case is one of many cases that are in Zimbabwe at the moment.
Reports in South Africa
Zimbabwe might have recorded its first COVID-19 case. The eNCA in South Africa has reported that Zimbabwe recorded its first positive case of corona virus because a woman who stayed in Victoria Falls tested positive upon her arrival in the UK. The woman was staying at a lodge that has been condoned off.
Is it a Zimbabwean Corona Virus Case
Savanna News’ assessment of the situation indicates that the case being reported by eNCA as a Zimbabwean case is not a Zimbabwean case since the patient in question did not test positive within our borders. It is possible that the patient might have contracted Corona Virus upon arrival in the UK or while on the plane.
There is a possibility that the woman had corna virus whilst she was in Zimbabwe. The woman was not tested in Zimbabwe. The Ministry of Health did not advise the public if the woman had shown Corona Virus symptoms.
