Ami Faku, the Abalele hitmaker, established herself as one of the most famous musicians in Mansi. She is rocking with hit songs like Imali and Uwrongo, just like she used to do in Church with the praise and worship team. Her success ensured she became the 26th SAMA’s Female Artist of the year in 2020. In the same year, Deezer named her the most streamed female artist in the country.
Fans often asked about Ami’s unique conduct, desperate to know she carries herself in that way. Her background while growing up made her the musician she is today. Let us go straight into her life background.
Ami Faku comes from a Church family
The award winner grew up in a family that loved the Church, and singing was encouraged. She grew up in Port Elizabeth, where she started singing. Her father was a pastor at a local church, which became her first platform to showcase her talent. She started singing in the Church choir at the age of 6 years, and she did not look back ever since. In 2012 her father even made sure she started producing with a local producer singing gospel.
Undoubtedly, her family saw a gospel singer rather than a club rocking Amapiano musician she is today. Either way, Ami’s family is proud of the heights she has reached so far. The twenty-eight-year-old musician indeed retains the discipline, self-control and decency she learned as a young Church going kid.
Ami Faku the Abelele hitmaker rises to the top of Mzansi music
Since 2017 when she contested at The Voice SA season 2, she never looked back and signed with the Vth season record label. Ami released her first song Ndikhethe Wena racking around half a million views on Youtube. She released the hit song uWrongo featuring Prince Kaybee, Shimza and Black Motion. The hit song sold over 30 000 units and got a gold certification from the Recording Industry of South Africa.
Since then, she rocked the Soul, R&B and Amapiano corners. She had featured other A-class artists like Kabza De Small, DJ Maphorisa, Sun-EL Musician and Simmy.
