Chinhoyi man stabs wife to death over biscuits and orange juice
Nelson Nhunge (55) from Chinhoyi stabbed his wife Faith Mhlanga (36) to death during a fight over orange juice and biscuits. The couple from 8570 Ruvimbo Phase 1 had been living together for 15 years.
Faith Mhlanga sustained severe injuries on her neck and chest. According to sources reporting to HMetro, the couple had been cohabitating as husband and wife. Mashonaland West Police spokesperson, Inspector Magaret Chitove informs H-Metro that the terrible incident happened on March 25 at around 11am.
On the day Neslon Nhunge asked for some biscuits and some orange juice from his now deceased wife. Faith Mhlanga refused, arguing that her husband was nor even providing for his family. This did not go well as her response angered Nelson.
Inspector Chitove narrates the incident saying,
“In a moment of madness, Nelson Nhunge struck his wife with a pot on her left eye. This resulted in the pot’s handle breaking. Still very furious he goes to another room before returning equipped with a knife.”
“Nelson closed windows and locked the door from inside and continued assaulting his wife. He stabbed her several times on the neck and chest resulting on her instant death.”

A neighbour Rangai Hunda informed the police who rushed to the scene leading to Nhunge’s arrest. A relative to Faith Mhlanga confirms the incident.
“When I received the news I rushed to the scene and I saw Amai Ashley lying dead with stab wounds on her body. I enquired what had led to her killing and some neighbours said it was a row over orange juice and biscuits meant for their school going children,” she said.
Another witness a vegetable vendor confirms she talked to the now deceased concerning the purchase of mixed vegetables. She then heard the two fighting and screams coming out of their house.
Moments later Nelson is said to have come out of the house with a blood-stained T-shirt, and this frightened fellow neighbours. What raised suspicion is that Nhunge was seen threatening anyone who dared to come near his house.
