The Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe is not happy at the way Chinese nationals are being treated at public health institutions. Guo Shaochun, China’s ambassador has made the claim in response to the outcry that has been made by African nationals about the treatment they are receiving in China.
It is reported that Chinese restaurants and property managers are denying Africans entry as they are suspected to be infected with coronavirus.
“Chinese nationals have been abused in the streets of Harare. They have been turned away from medical facilities and insulted even if they are not seeking treatment related to covid-19,” said Guo Shaochun.
The ambassador’s response was provoked by the outcry that Africans. Reports from the city of Guangzhou are that Africans are being evicted from their lodgings. The United States and other African countries have summoned Chinese Ambassadors and have written to Beijing registering their disapproval of the situation.
Nigerian legislator Akinola Alabi tweeted a video of a meeting between him, Femi Gbajabiamila, and Chinese Ambassador Zhou Pingjian as they discuss the happenings in Guangzhou and how China should respond to it.
