The Cotton Fest weekend is upon us, and all things are happening at the Station in Newtown in Johannesburg to excited crowds. Cassper Nyovest has been hailed as one of the best performers at the event. Cassper paid tribute to his friend and his brother on stage, and the attendees were left completely satisfied with what he did.
Cassper made his first appearance on the Cotton stage, and he brought down the house. Cassper made sure everyone was kept on their feet.
All the artists that brought the entertainment on that stage brought their A-plus game because they all had a greater purpose of being performed as we all know that Cotton Fest is the brainchild of the late Riky Rick.
This marks the first year of the Cotton Fest without Riky Rick since its inception four years ago.
Artists and fans have been sharing their experiences at the event on social media, and it looks like everyone brought forward their best fashion to honour one of the best-dressed artists, Ricky Rick
Cassper shared a special message to Riky on his Twitter page, saying:
“This one is for my brother. You planned to bring me out as a surprise tonight & we didn’t have that moment. My first time on your stage, and you’re not here in physical form, but I know you’re with me and the rest of us in spirit. I love you, and I miss you, Rikhado. #CottonFest2022 https://t.co/IZPY3BjgJB”
Cassper Nyovest had the crowds going wild when he broke into Mama I made it, Tito Mboweni and Baby Girl. Everyone was singing along to his music.
Cassper received props from other artists who congratulated him on his stunning performance.
Black Coffee sent emojis of thanks to him, and Skwatta Kamp member Slikor also said that Cassper Killed it.
Another Highlight was when his younger brother Themba Mdladla came out on the stage dressed like Ricky and jumping up and down like his big brother. Themba gave Ricks’ fans a taste of his Brothers energy.
Other artists that brought the house down were Nasty C and Youngsta Kadpstaad, who dedicated a song to the late Ricky.
The setup at the station consists of three stages, one dedicated to Hip Hop, the other to Amapiano and the House music stage.
The festivities continued on Sunday as it was a two-day event. The Cotton Fest social pages have shared all the activities, including scare boarding and different booths built for people to market their merchandise.
Robot Boii, one of the hosts, shared some of the clothes wire to the event to showcase Rick’s respect for the Cotton lovers. Twitter was set ablaze when it was revealed that Robot Boii is the people’s poet Mzwakhe Mbuli’s son.
Cotton Fest will be an event that will live in peoples’ minds for a long time, mainly due to Rick’s untimely death.
