Capitec Bank has warned of a scam targeting unsuspecting customers.
The fraudsters have personal information for a number of Capitec customers including phone numbers and bank account numbers.
The fraudsters begin by instilling fear in the customers informing them about an unauthorised stop order that is about to deduct funds from their account or an impending debit instruction on their account that they did not initiate.
The cons, targeting mostly the elderly, claim to be from the Capitec’s anti-fraud division seeking to assist the customers to block fraudsters from accessing their accounts.

Customers are then asked to input a pin on their banking application to block the fraudulent transaction.
The unsuspecting customers are led to a process of transferring funds to the fraudsters account.
The bank took to their social media accounts to inform their customers about this new form of fraud.
