Cabinet reveals schools opening dates
The President of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday addressed the nation on the new COVID-19 Lockdown regulations. All other aspects of the new regulations were clearly stated except for schools which were told to prepare to open. Today after meeting the Cabinet releases the schools opening dates which are in phases.
The Minister of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services Monica Mutsvangwa says,
“Cabinet agreed that the school calendar for 2021 starts on a slightly phased approach, with the examination classes starting on the 15th of March 2021 and the rest on 22 March 2021.”
However, the duration of the term is not specified. This has many people confused and asking questions concerning this approach. On twitter, other have this to say,
“So we pay fees for 3weeks kkk”
“Thanks for this info Nick!!It was my hope though that the decision would be for resumption for Exam Classes only for this term, to allow proper management and assessment of the situation given we just got out of a scary phase, plus to cater for undivided attention and focus..”
“At least the country is becoming productive in education ….What abt Zupco fairs ..imagine a student needs RTGs 100 daily….yet our earnings are around RTGs 10000”“April 2 (bank holiday) – Good Friday.April 3 – Holy Saturday.April 4 – Easter Sunday.April 5 – Easter Monday …and closing WHEN”
