In the online article, which emerged yesterday, a young man who calls himself Thato confessed he was hired by Prophet Shepherd Bushiri to photoshop Prophet Paseka “Mboro” Motsoeneng in heaven.
For years Mboro was made fun of for going to heaven, taking a selfie, and trying to sell it.
The Incredible Happenings Ministry founder and leader spent all those years defending himself against the fake news.
Thato was quoted saying he met Bushiri at his church, Enlightened Christian Gathering, at the Pretoria Showgrounds and got the brief to create an image of what looked like heaven with Mboro in the background.
When Daily Sun contacted Bushiri yesterday about the allegations, his spokesman Ephraim Nyondo said Mboro and Bushiri met in 2017 and resolved the matter.
“Those images and stories were done in 2016 by some guy who used to work in ECG media,” said Nyondo.
“When Bushiri found out, he fired the guy in December 2016.
“Bushiri explained all this to Mboro when they met and the two even made peace. That’s why I’m saying ignore the fake news.”
He said the man in question reportedly did this deliberately to create hostility between the prophets, and that’s why Bushiri fired him.
But Mboro said his name continued to get tarnished and justice was yet to prevail. “I believe this was a scheme that was aimed at tarnishing my name.
“The fake heaven story even trended overseas. Besides the reports of ‘I went to heaven and came back’, there were also reports I asked for R100 000 for Covid-19 relief and that I visited hell and killed satan.”
He admitted he confronted Bushiri in 2016 about the issue.
Mboro said the stories resurfaced in 2018, tarnishing his name again.
Thato could not be reached for comment by Daily Sun.
