Buka Manje! Sizwe Dhlomo mocks Simphiwe Ngema for speaking out about Bester’s statement
Earlier this week, it was revealed that South African actress Simphiwe “Simz” Ngema had visited convicted murderer and rapist Thabo Bester in jail. This news quickly spread and caused a great deal of controversy. In response to the public outcry, the former Muvhango actress released a statement confirming that she had indeed visited Bester, whom she had known under the name TK Motsepe. She explained that he was a businessman she had worked with in the past and that he owed her money.
However, the statement did little to quell the public’s curiosity and speculation about her motives for visiting Bester. In fact, it only served to fuel the fire and soon went viral on social media. Eventually, Simz deleted the statement altogether. Now, media personality Sizwe Dhlomo has weighed in on the matter, mocking Simz for releasing the statement in the first place and suggesting that she should have kept quiet about the whole affair.
Sizwe Dhlomo mocked Simphiwe Ngema for speaking out about Bester’s statement
South African social media users are still reeling from the shocking revelations that have emerged in the Thabo Bester case. Last week, it was revealed that actress Simphiwe Ngema had visited the notorious “Facebook rapist” Thabo Bester while he was serving time in prison.
Simz explained that she had worked on several events for Bester’s 21 Century media company and had gone to see him in prison to inquire about payments she was still waiting to receive. However, her statement was met with scepticism and disbelief from many South Africans, who questioned how she could expect a prisoner to pay her and suggested that her explanation simply didn’t make sense.
Despite quickly deleting the statement, Simz has continued to face ridicule and mockery online. Among those who have publicly mocked her is Kaya FM host Sizwe Dhlomo, who questioned why she would release such a statement without first having it reviewed by a legal team.
“Ukuthi nani niyawathanda ama press release abhedayo! Thula uma indaba yakho ingekho straight! Buka manje! SMH! (You love unnecessary press releases. You should have kept quiet if you weren’t sure about your story. Now, Look! Shaking My Head (SMH),” he wrote in a tweet.
