Brightness comes from Umlazi in Durban KwaZulu Natal. Her whole life growing up was based in her hometown, where she attended her school till High School. Currently, she lives in Durban, she may have moved from Umlazi, but she still stays close to her family. Growing up, she always had a passion for performing and her gift for singing made this easy for her to earn jobs as an MC.
Brightness Zulu made her debut in the acting industry when cast in Imbewu-The Seed as Celiwe. Her character has been on screen since the series started. She is part of the actors that have recurring roles. Celiwe is considered part of the Bhengu family, and they even ask for her advice on issues.
