Zimbabwe Covid-19 death toll has risen to 8.
This was announced by the Ministry of Health and Child Care on Saturday. Zimbabwe also reported 73 new coronavirus cases – the highest daily total to date.
The Ministry of Health and Child Care said Zimbabwe reported the death of a 21-year-old female from Harare Province who tested positive today. The woman is Zimbabwe’s youngest victim to date.
The Health Ministry said the young woman had no history of travel and had no co-morbidities.
In an update on its official Twitter account, the Health Ministry said the total number of Covid-19 cases is 698.
The update reads:
As at 04 July 2020, Zimbabwe had 698 confirmed cases, including 181 recoveries and eight (8) deaths.

The rise in Covid-19 deaths comes at a time when Zimbabwe has lifted some Covid-19 restrictions by reopening its national parks to the public and allowing restaurants to start serving food within their premises. Lockdown regulations allowed restaurants to stay open for their full licensed hours but limited them to takeaway services.
Zimbabwe is slowly reopening its economy despite a spike in new Covid-19 cases, which had gone up to 698.
The government says most of the cases being reported are citizens returning from countries such as South Africa, Botswana, and the United Kingdom.
Thousands of citizens have returned to Zimbabwe since the virus outbreak.
Thousands are being held at isolation centers across the country for a mandatory 21 days before they are allowed to join their families.
The southern African country imposed a lockdown at the end of March to stop the spread of the coronavirus
Last month Zimbabwe recorded two deaths, a 79-year-old Bulawayo resident and a 60-year-old Midlands province female.
Zimbabwe’s three-match ODI series with Australia scheduled for August 9-15 was postponed indefinitely by mutual agreement due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
