After 4 years at Kaya station, rapper and radio host ProVerb has resigned from Kaya FM.
Tebogo “ProVerb” Thekisho hosted Kayasette on Fridays, 12:00-15:00 and The Winner’s Circle, Saturdays, 11:00-14:00.
On Kayasette, ProVerb hosts musicians and has unplugged sessions. The Winners Circle is for conversations with thought leaders in business and entertainment- the winning circle!
Although he hasn’t stated his reasons for leaving the station, ProVerb was filled with thanks as he said his farewells.
“Thank you so much, Kaya FM. I am eternally grateful for the wonderful experience and opportunity. My deepest gratitude to Afropolitans for spending their weekends with me the last four years, all the best and God Bless,” he said.
Kaya FM’s MD Colle Louw expressed their sadness at losing ProVerb. “The Kaya family will miss ProVerb dearly. Both of his shows have been a part of the station’s story, and we are sad to see him go. We thank him for his service, his incredible work ethic and the wonderful energy he brought to the station”.
While Kaya FM hasn’t found a replacement for the Idols Producer, DJ Keyez will be holding it down until further notice.
Breaking: ProVerb resigns from Kaya FM
ProVerb began his career in the industry as a rapper and MC. He established himself as a veteran in the industry with a lot of hits. To begin his radio career, ProVerb started off as a technical producer for Y-FM before he grew to be a technical and content producer for Metro FM. Notably, ProVerb worked with Unathi and Glen Lewis before having his own show on Metro FM, the Pro File. This led to his move to Kaya FM.
ProVerb began his on screen career when he joined Idols SA in its sixth season as a co-host to Liezel van der Westhuizen. ProVerb then became solo host. He has finally become Idols’ producer. The host also published a tell book, “The Book of Proverb” last year where he tells all about his journey in the industry, his mentors, his experience as a radio and television host.
This is not the first departure to shake the Kaya FM waves in the past year. Mike Siluma who hosted Karibu left the station 2020 as well as the Uncaptured team, Kgomotso Matsunyane and Ndumiso Ngcobo. In the opposite direction, Sizwe Dhlomo hoing Kaya FM as the host of the afternoon-drive show.
