Booze heist: Joburg thieves dig tunnel to steal R300 000 worth of booze
A Joburg Shoprite LiqourShop was robbed the in a Money Heist kind of concept. The shop which is located at Newton Junction shopping center lost R300 000 worth of booze via a well dug tunnel.
The robbery took place when the shop was closed following regulations on beer sales during the Covid-19 lockdown levels.
The manager of the store discovered the theft – and a large hole in the ground – when she entered the store on Friday. She was returning to prepare for the store’s reopening on Monday under the easing of lockdown regulations to Level 3 despite previously stated WHO recommendations
