Bontle Modiselle, actress and choreographer, recently opened up about her husband Priddy Ugly’s training regimen for his boxing match with Cassper Nyovest. In an interview on the Choppin It With Buddha T’s podcast, she shared her thoughts on the experience.
“For me, it wasn’t just about the moment that people tuned in to witness in real time. It was about all the hours, days, and five weeks of preparation that went into it. There was so much happening behind the scenes,” she said.
Bontle went on to describe the intense preparation that Priddy Ugly underwent in order to be ready for the fight. “The preparation was insane. He had to train for it in such a short amount of time. I don’t think people understand what it means to be put on the spot like that and take on a challenge that most people wouldn’t even consider.”

Priddy Ugly dedicated himself fully to his training, spending long hours at the gym and sparring frequently. Bontle expressed her concern for her husband’s well-being during this time. “He spent very little time at home. He was always training or at the gym. I was concerned because I knew he was having trouble with headaches. At one point, we even had to go to the hospital because he wasn’t okay.”
Despite his dedication and hard work, Priddy Ugly ultimately lost the fight. In an interview with TshisaLIVE after the match, he shared his disappointment but also expressed gratitude for coming out of it unscathed. “When someone much heavier than you hits you in the head, it doesn’t matter how prepared you are, you’ll go dizzy. But I’m blessed that I’m not hurt. He knocked me down and I’m still here with no bruises.” 😊
