Bonang sues podcaster Rea Gopane R500K for claiming she introduced AKA to cocaine
Bonang has sued podcaster Rea Gopane for defamation of character for an amount of R500 000. This comes after the podcaster claimed that Bonang introduced the famous rapper AKA to drugs. Taking to Twitter Bonang posted the letter from her lawyers to Rea Gopane with the caption ‘…these letters can go on social media if you prefer?! @reagoapne”
The letter reads:
“It is regrettable that this correspondence is required to be sent to you by way of social media platform simply because you prefer to hide yourself to avoid facing your legal responsibilities.”
“On Sunday 9 May 2021 you falsely and unlawfully accused Bonang Matheba in a widely published video clip of inter alia having introduced AKA (Kiernan Jarryd Forbes) to cocaine. In the context of what was being discussed in the video clip this defamatory allegation was exacerbated by the shocking insinuation that the death of AKA’s girlfriend Anele (Nellie) Tembe was due to AKA’s alleged use of cocaine.”

From the letter, Bonang’s lawyers contacted Rea on the same day and the podcaster agreed to publish a retraction and to apologize publicly and unreservedly. However, Rea did not do as agreed and instead hid from the lawyers and refused to respond to messages or calls. The podcaster also refused to provide his email address which has resulted in Bonang looking for it on Twitter from the public.
After seeing the letters the podcaster then responds on Twitter by just saying ‘Hebann. I just cannot believe this woman right now’ to which Bonang responds by saying Try me meaning she is ready for the war. Upon realization that the matter was serious and could cost him a fortune Rea then posted on Twitter tahging Queen B,
“You have my number. I love you and appreciate you. You inspire me. Take care @bonang_m.”
Some of Bonang’s fans are asking her to drop the case and let it slide but Queen B’s response is that she has let many things slide and will not let this one go.
