According to unverified reports circulating on Facebook, Bobo Andile Mchunu was dumped in a SAPS blue bag, a senior police officer received R50 000 bribe from one of the accused mother.
Andile Bobo Mchunu’s murder case continues to open a can of worms. The 16 year old Andile also known as Bobo was allegedly murdered for stealing alcohol and money at Magagula Lodge in Tongaat.
After his disappearance, Bobo was later found dead and his body dumped in Newton River.
Seven suspects were arrested (including the owner of the Magagula lodge) and six of them were brought to court on murder and kidnapping charges. The seventh suspect saw charges dropped against him since he was underage.
Poor case management, police involvement, community and public outcry attracted the attention of Minister of Police Bheki Cele. The Minister visited the local police station where the case was first handled to “see for himself”.
Police involvement in Andile Bobo Mchunu’s murder case
A senior police officer was arrested for helping murder suspects in burying and dumping Andile Mchunu’s body, a case which police dismissed as fake news.
Another Tongaat police officer who was involved in dumping the body, committed suicide by shooting himself over the Bobo case SABC confirmed.
Police have opened an inquest docket after body of a 49-year old man was found in a vehicle at Tea Estate near Verulam, north of Durban with a gunshot wound to the head. The SABC has reliably learnt that the deceased was a senior official at the Tongaat police station. #sabcnews

It is alleged that the mother of one of the murder suspects (Magagula Lodge owner) transferred R50 000 into the arrested police officer’s personal account. The senior police officer then helped in dumping Bobo’s body and provided with a SAPS blue bag.

Below is a version of Msizi E. Nkosi on Andile Bobo Mchunu case posted on Facebook
After Bobo was brutally assaulted to death, suspects panicked. Accused No1 then called his senior police officer friend to ask for advice on what to do next. Police officer instructed him they must go bury the body he’ll deal with the complaint from family. After all Bobo’s sister had seen a badly assaulted Bobo and was told to go fetch his clothes so they could take him to the hospital.
Suspects went and buried Bobo’s body somewhere in Ballito out of all places!
Accused No1 reported back to the senior police officer that they were done with the job. But upon finding out where exactly they had buried the body there was another panic. They had buried Bobo’s body on a construction site and that shallow grave was bound to be discovered sooner than later. The senior police officer then instructed them to dig the body, burn it beyond recognition, shackle it with irons and throw it in the river, suspects did as instructed.
We all know what happened when Bobo’s uncle went to Tongaat Police Station to report that his nephew had mysteriously disappeared after being brutally assaulted. Firstly, he was told the only police van available was in Addington, and when police finally gave in and attended to the matter they sheepishly believed the ridiculous lie Bobo had run away when his sister saw that he could barely move, let alone run away.
And they then thought they had gotten away with murder. How horribly wrong they were. The family reported the matter to the SAPS Provincial authorities, that’s when the case was moved to Umhlali Police Station and was now out of the hands of the corrupt Tongaat Police officers. Things started moving, arrests were made.
I hear an SAPS Spokesperson on radio earlier today refuted allegations police officers are involved and said such claims are fake news.
Anyone who believes that has to have serious intellectual deficiencies, if a police official can say that with so much confidence it then means investigation to this murder case is concluded right? Since when in the history of SAPS has an investigation been concluded so soon? That police official lied on radio.
As a matter of fact police officers in that police have all had their cellphones confiscated for further investigation because more officers are said to be involved.
One female officer who refused to be involved is fearing for her life as a hit on her has been called, she fears for her life.
The irony! A police officer who refused to be part of this heinous crime is fearing for her life!
Suspects are in custody in different police stations around Durban obviously to scupper any plans to concoct a story to get them out of this mess that has left a family grieving and a nation watching in anticipation.
