Bob Mabena Funeral And Memorial Service Details
Legendary radio personality Bob Mabena will be laid to rest on Saturday.
Mabena died on Monday aged 51 following a cardiac arrest.
The family of Mabena said they will hold a virtual memorial and funeral service to bid farewell to the radio legend.
The online memorial will be held on Thursday at 3.30pm while a virtual funeral service will commence at 12.30pm on Saturday.
Mabena started his careerin 1989 at Radio Bop.
In a career spanning over 30 years, he has worked for Highveld Stereo, Kaya FM, Power FM and other notable media houses.
At the time of his death, he was a presenter of POWER Breakfast on Power FM.
The memorial and funeral services will be streamed live on www.power987.co.za, Facebook POWER 98.7, Twitter @Power987 and Instagram Power 98.7.
“We recognise and appreciate that Mr Bob Mabena belonged to many South Africans, due to lockdown regulations we will not be able to accommodate all people who may wish to pay their last respects.
“We wish to encourage people to feel free and set up their own virtual memorial services in his honour,” said Power FM said.
Tributes poured in for Mabena after his passing on.

Actress Refilwe Modiselle posted, “I am shattered a legend fallen… I knew him from production days when I worked for Bonngoe as a Prod Manager doing Metro FM Awards, I’d later harass him for a job at Power FM I called him Uncle Bob, he’d smile & call me Barbie… Iyoh 2020 but what are you. #RIPBobMabena”
