Mutoko woman’s corpse fresh after buried of 17 days : A Mutoko woman’s body was exhumed 17 days after burial in a suspected juju case, body view was conducted and the corpse was still fresh despite spending 17 days in a tomb.
The woman identified as Tambudzai had succumbed to excessive bleeding after suffering a miscarriage. Tambudzai a second wife in a polygamous marriage died had died a few weeks ago, was buried in Mutoko where she has been living with her husband.
According to Juliet, the sister to the deceased, her dead sister appeared to her and revealed that she is restless and not comfortable with her burial position, she revealed that she wanted to be buried at Tamar farm next to her mother.
Juliet was reportedly ‘tormented’ by her sister until she made arrangements for the body to be exhumed and re-reburied where the deceased wanted.
This incident shocked villagers in the area who were allowed to conduct a body view and surprised to find out that the body was still fresh and odorless.
“Nothing went wrong just as how she told her sister, the exhumation went well, the body was brought here without any hustles,” said one of the villagers.
At the funeral, Nyau dancers were leading the procession to the graveyard and the relatives said that was one of the deceased’s demands to her sister, that she wanted them to dance at her second funeral.

Mourners dispersed for violating Covid -19 guidelines
In disbelief and shock villagers thronged the scene and violated stipulated COVID-19 burial restrictions. They were dispersed by police for violating the stipulated number in line with Covid-19 guidelines .
In a statement, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident urging traditional leaders to monitor villagers and make sure they are complying with Government directives on Covid-19.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police would like to confirm the incident where mourners were dispersed at a farm yesterday,”
“Circumstances were that relatives of the deceased were claiming that they were experiencing a bizarre incident where body of the buried woman was seen in the village.
“Police dispersed the mourners over failure to meet health measures set by Government in curbing the spreading of Coronavirus and chief among them was that of social distance”,said Ass Comm Nyathi.
