Ben Motshwari, Orlando Pirates player tests positive for Coronavirus, COVID-19
Orlando Pirates has announced that their midfielder Ben Motshwari has tested positive for coronavirus.
The club revealed that Motshwari showed flu-like symptoms last week and after undergoing COVID19 tests, his results come back positive.
The Buccaneers said Ben Motshwari is in good shape and under home self-isolation for the next regulated 14 days. He will be cleared after testing negative for coronavirus.
“In accordance with relevant protocols, NHI has been notified of the case by the club,” Pirates said in a statement.
“The health and well-being of our players, officials, and the wider community remains our highest priority in this difficult time.
“The Club has also advised that the Ben Motshwari must notify the doctors of all the people that he has been in contact with to ensure that they also get tested.”
Ben Motshwari family appealed for solidarity and prayers from all fans.
“We appeal for prayers across the football fraternity. Solidarity is key in moments like these”
“Ben has always been home since the lockdown was announced. He limited unnecessary movement and has been training ever since. When he exhibited flu-like symptoms we engaged the clubs medical team through laid procedures that’s when he got tested and found positive for coronavirus. Right now he (Ben Motshwari) is home in self isolation and the whole place has been disinfected. We hope he endures and overcome the virus, right now he is normal and fit,” says a family member.
