Samela Tyelbooi plays the role of Ayanda Majola on Generations The Legacy. The character is estranged Tau Mogale‘s lover and media entrepreneur who tags along with her daughter Nontle Majola – the role played by Buntu Petse. Ayanda appears on Generations as a fugitive from Nigeria running away from abusive husband Jonathan Okere; she becomes an executive of Moroka owned media house #Ezweni.
Secretive Ayanda can compete and win any secret competition; she has kept many things to herself that come back to hound her. Over the Generations storyline, Ayanda kept the identity of her daughter’s father to herself only to surprise Tau that Nontle, whom he has been sharing the same roof as his stepdaughter is indeed a biological daughter.
There is no parental rest for Samela, who cherish the privilege of being a mother onscreen; she is ever chasing around her teen daughter, and she has three daughters in real life. Her relationship with Dali Malinga (the man who put her baby daddy behind bars) sets to take a step further. Dali is not comfortable with how Ayanda handles her father.
Samela Tyelbooi – Ayanda from Generations The Legacy Qualifications
Often credited as Samantha Tyelbooi, Samela is an actress by passion; she doesn’t hold drama and film qualifications. She is a qualified Dentist who holds a Bachelor of Dental Science (BDS) from Wits University.
She landed her first significant role in 2007 as Louis Gumede on SABC 1 drama series Society after appearing on the previous version of Generations as a cameo role. Over the years, Ayanda appeared in various plays and soapies, including Rhythm City, It’s complicated and Generations. She played a prominent role on the Netflix series Losing Lerato.
The Generations role gave her much needed exposure, and she became one of the main cast members; the exit of prominent actors on the set, including Zoe Mthiyane, Letoya Makhene, Rapulana Seiphemo, Vuyo Dabula and Vusi Kunene, placed Semela at the centre of the storyline.
