Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki fired
Just In: Safa CEO Tebogo Motlanthe confirmed that the National Team has parted ways with its coach Molefi Ntseki. Motlanthe indicated that Ntseki will no longer be part of the Bafana structure following their elimination from the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations.
The football Gaffer was shown the exit door after a string of poor results which saw the national team failing to qualify to the prestigious Africa Cup of Nations. Bafana Bafana only needed a draw against Sudan to progress to the Cup of Nations but they lost 2-0 to Sudan in their final match.
“Our failure to qualify for Afcon is a setback in terms of Vision 2022. But we should not isolate it because there were some successes,” said Motlanthe.
“Give it to coachNtseki. He collected 10 points, which shows there was work done. We’re not going to restart the process but we need continuation. We need a coach who will take us forward, to the World Cup. There’s no space for failure.
Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki fired
The Safa boss indicated that they need a quality coach who can deliver as they now shift focus to World Cup Qualifiers. We want Bafana to be in line with Vision 2022. We need a coach who will take us there.”
However, Safa is yet to meet up with Ntseki to map a way forward and tie some loose ends. He is also yet to give them a detailed report about their disastrous and dull Afcon qualifiers campaign.
Prior to his appointment as head coach, he was assistant coach to Shakes Mashaba and Baxter. He took charge in the wake of Baxter exit. The 50-year-old Gaffer started off on an interim basis but was confirmed as the new head coach.
Before Ntseki appointment the technical committee which was mandated to look for the new coach read out the criteria which they used to arrive at their decision. His failure to bring good results was the major factor behind his exit.
But Ntseki failed on his mandate to qualify for Afcon 2022 and the association saw it risky to let him carry on with the Qatar World Cup qualifier. And now the Safa technical committee is back in search of identifying a new head coach.
