Art imitates life, Former Scandal actor Bongile Mantsai ‘Mthunzi’ to star in new series.
Many know him for taking up the role of villains in drama serials on television despite being the opposite character behind the scenes. Bongile Mantsai is known as Mthunzi, who took revenge for his family against the people who killed them in Scandal. The actor is set to take the reigns as he plays the lead in a new drama series that will come to SABC 1 this May.
Mantsai is to play the role of a Pastor who turned into a cop who disappears and is presumed dead. He wakes up in a hospital in Hillbrow, not remembering who he is or what happened to him. After that, he gets discharged and leaves the hospital with one quest in mind: finding out who he is.
The series is called Identity and will premiere on SABC 1 on the 8th of May. The time slot is yet to be announced by the broadcasting network. Entertainment news blogger shared the news on Twitter, Phil Mpela, in a post.

The actor is well known for taking on villainous roles in many of the productions he has worked on. In real life, however, he is a preacher at his church. On this new drama series, he will play a character of a person who was a Pastor. He preaches at Hope Restoration ministries and was born in a Christian home where his father was a bishop in an apostolic church.
Recently he has been seen on Mzansi Magic in a Dr series called Grootboom and sons. He played the role of Mbulelo, the firstborn son. Before that, he was known for his role in the award-winning movie Knuckle City, and he won a SAFTA award for his role.
