ArcelorMittal Steel boss shot 14 times!
In a tragic incident, a manager at ArcelorMittal Steel boss was showered with a hail of bullets in the south of Joburg earlier this week. Peet Snyders (47) who was the head of ArcelorMittal’s coke operations was on his way home when he was gunned down by four unknown gunmen.
The unknown suspects who are still on the run were wearing balaclavas. The police service confirmed the shooting and also indicated that investigations are already underway.
ArcelorMittal CEO, Kobus Verster, sent a message of condolence to the family. The company is said to be offering support to his family including counselling services. However, Verster indicated that circumstances around the shooting were unknown. He had this to say to the media in regards to the shooting.
“The company will cooperate fully with the investigation team. We would like the authorities to get to the bottom of this crime so that the perpetrators are brought to the book.”

However, Police spokeswomen, Brigadier Mathapelo Peters, said a manhunt was launched to find the suspects who are at large.
According to police intel gathered the deceased was driving on the corner of Delfos and Hetz Boulevard when about four male suspects pounced on him.
“However, it is said that all four were armed with firearms, wearing white balaclavas, alighted from a green vehicle with unknown registration numbers and fired multiple shots at the deceased’s vehicle,” she said.
Peters said the motive for the killing is yet to be determined.
“Anyone who may have witnessed this or might have information that could lead to the apprehension of the suspects is urged to contact the nearest police station or call Crime Stop on 10111,” she said.
