Andile “Bobo” Mbuthu has been laid to rest: Pictures and Videos
Murdered teen Andile Bobo Mbuthu has been laid to rest today in Hambanathi, Tongaat. Police were on the scene controlling the numbers attending the funeral service to align with lockdown restricted numbers.
Andile was brutally murdered at Magagula Hotel and later dumped in Newton river in the same area after he allegedly stole money and beer from the hotel. Bobo’s murder lead to massive community and online protests resulting in the destruction of the hotel by angry community members and arrests of the suspects.
Seven suspects were arrested in connection with Andile Mbuthu’s murder, however charges were dropped for the meantime against the seventh under aged suspect. The suspects were charged with murder and kidnapping but due to lockdown restricted movements, their case has been dragged.

Bobo’s identity was revealed earlier this week when DNA tests were conducted against the decomposing body that was found in Newton river and the result was a positive identity.
The complexity and alleged police infiltration in the case attracted the Minister of Police Bheki Cele to visit the Tongaat local police station to hear and see for himself.
