Jerry Mofokeng is known for his evil thuggish character on Scandal as Bra Neo Mokheti. On Scandal, he was a villain actor who would do anything to pursue his goals. He nailed his role on Scandal to perfection, becoming a household name. Jerry Mofokeng was born in Soweto and spent most of his childhood in Lesotho. He studied secondary school at Orlando West High School and Youth Alive Ministries in Soweto, passing with better grades that qualified him for tertiary education. He enrolled at Wits Drama School, where he initially majored in acting. Jerry Mofokeng graduated from Wits Drama School with an honours degree in Drama. He proceeded to the United States of America on a Full Rights Scholarship and attended Columbia University in New York for his Master’s Degree in Theater Directing from 1987-1991.
After graduating, he put his dexterities to the test and rose from Associate Artistic Director to Artistic Director of The State while flawlessly gracing the small screen. Proving his intellectual abilities, he released a book, In Love & Intimate, in 2015. Mofokeng is a jack of all trades and has been featured on local soapies and internationally.
In 2019, the University of Free State gave him an honorary doctorate becoming one of the few artists who managed to secure an honorary doctorate in 2019.
Jerry Mofokeng on finding his biological father at 58
For decades Jerry always thought he was a Mofokeng; however, he later discovered his biological father was a Makhetha at 58. It was hard for him to accept that he had been living a lie for more than five decades. He later obtained his fate and revealed his father to the public in February 2017 during the South African Film and Television Awards nominations party. His biological father’s name is Dan Motlepo Makgetha. The actor has a new identity, which explains his alternative name.
