Alert: Powerful Cold front to hit Gauteng from Thursday
Gauteng Weather Department warns that a powerful cold front from the Antarctica will blast near polar air to Gauteng. This probably means temperatures will be so low and it will be very cold. This is expected to start from Thursday.
“ALERT: POWERFUL COLD FRONT WITH CORE NEAR ANTARCTICA TO BLAST NEAR-POLAR AIR TO GAUTENG FROM THURSDAY, with accompanying upper-air trough adding intensity!!!,” the department posted.
Antarctica is mostly known for being cold and filled with ice. That thought makes one get the degree of coldness expected in Gauteng. Winter has already brought about the sharp increase in number of COVID-19 cases and deaths. To hear that temperatures might go even lower is scarier and it intensifies the spread and severity of the virus.
Already people are not enjoying the lockdowns as they have affected lives of many negatively. The virus has taken many lives worldwide but at the moment Africa is losing many people to COVID-19. The country is doing all things necessary to vaccinate people and encourage the public to get vaccinated as it helps fight the virus.

Approximately 8 per cent of the total population has received at least the first jab of the dose. This means more than 90 percent of people in South Africa have not received the vaccine and it is a long way to go. No one is safe and everyone must prioritize safety because it is better to be alive than dead.
The South African Olympic team has been dealt with a blow after three members of the team tested positive. Hopefully the members recover and the team is ready to represent the country. At the moment it is not looking good as more than eleven cases were recorded in 24 hours on the 18th of July.
