Agribank invites suitable farmers to participate in the John Deere mechanization facility. This comes through a reported US$60 million massive agriculture mechanisation deal with an Indian firm, International Tractor Limited (ITL), that will see distribution of tractors, combine harvesters and various implements to benefit local farmers, according to project promoters.
Qualifying farmers will get the tractors, through a facility that is payable over five years. Payments of the equipment will be made through the local bank for onward transmission to the financer.
To qualify applicants must meet the following criteria:
- ➦Be a farmer or locally registered farming entity
- ➦Have proof of land ownership, valid lease endorsed by Ministry of Agriculture on adequate land preferably irrigable land with adequate water source is an added advantage (offer letter, title deeds or 99 year lease)
- ➦Have proven record of production in the chosen enterprise
- ➦Adequate management or expertise must be available, equal opportunity will be given to both male and female applicants.
- ➦Have proven production record of accomplishment in the particular crop and/or livestock
