Africans are facing a hard time in China after reports indicate they are being denied essential goods an services especially in the City of Guangzhou.
Africans have been subject to discrimination that has seen the United States and other African countries voicing their concern over the well being of their citizens.
The United States wrote to Beijing to express their concern in the manner African Americans are being treated in China. China denies the allegations and suggests there ‘misunderstandings’ in some cities on how foreigners and those arriving in the country must be treated.
African ambassadors in China have written to the country’s foreign minister seeking to find a solution to their citizens currently stranded in what used to be the epicentre of the coronavirus.
There is a concern that Africans in Guangzhou are the cause of the second round of infections hitting the Asian nation. African ambassadors’ letter indicated that the current stigmatisation and discrimination created the false impression that Africans are causing the second wave of coronavirus infections.
