She is younger than she looks: Actress Pretty from Gomora celebrates her birthday; real age surprises Mzansi.
Actress Siyasanga Papu who plays the role of Pretty on Gomora, celebrates her birthday with family and friends. The Gomora cast prepared a small surprise party for the actress to celebrate her life milestone.
Playing Pretty in Gomora
In the Mzansi Magic telenovela, the Pretty character is MaSonto’s youngest daughter and Sbonga’s (Khaya Mthembu) wife. Pretty grew up under the shadow of her elder sister Thathi who always took all the compliments from her. The two siblings grew up disliking each other due to the rift and gap created by their mother, as she has always favoured Thathi at Pretty’s expense.
Pretty runs Sonto’s inn and lives with her husband and daughter Tshiamo (Lerato Mokoka) at her mother’s household. Having grown up surrounded by criminals, her mother ran a car high jacking syndicate; Pretty has always lived a straightforward life.
Though Pretty lived a faithful life, her marriage is set to be rocked by sudden emergence of her ex-boyfriend, who lives in the USA.
Abdul’s return to Pretty’s life with childhood memories is set to shake Pretty’s marriage to Sbonga. The pair were caught kissing in Sonto’s house by Mazet, who is yet to break the news to Sbonga.
Raise to fame
Siyasanga Papu joined the Gomora cast as an underdog and upcoming actress, though she had temporarily featured on various drama series as an extra. Speaking to this publication, the actress opened up about discrimination against plus-size actresses who are consistently given fringe roles.
“I thank Seriti TV for looking beyond my physical outlook and offering me the Pretty role on Gomora. It’s not easy for plus-size young talent to break through in the acting industry, favouring model-bodied creatives. It’s a blessing and a long lecture playing alongside legendary cast members like Mama Connie (Chiume) and Katlego Danke, who plays my mother and elder sister, respectively.”
Siyasanga Papu celebrates birthday, age revealed
Siyasanga Papu completed high school at Hoerskoole Eklandspoort from 2000 to 2004. In 2005 she enrolled at Damelin to study Filmmaking. Though the actress plays a role of a forty-five-year-old mother to a teenager in Gomora, in real life, Siyasanga Papu is much younger; she was born on 14 July 1986 in Pretoria.
