A 2-year-old was raped in Covid-19 isolation at Dr George Mukhari academic hospital
The family of a 2-year-old girl who was raped while in Covid-19 isolation at Dr George Mukhari academic hospital is seeking answers over the incident, the child was admitted in the medial facility to be treated for Covid-19 related illness.
The child was allegedly raped at the Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital last month and the crime was reported to police last week.
Both the Police and the hospital are investigating allegations that a two-year-old girl has been raped while in isolation at a Pretoria hospital.
The police’s Mathapelo Peters: “I can confirm that a case of rape of a minor has been opened at Ga-Rankuwa.
Police are investigating and no suspects have been arrested.”
The family accompanied by community leaders have met with the Ministry of health and the hospital officials in bid to find answers why the matter was delayed after being reported.

Pretoria Health MEC described the incident as “absolutely outrageous” and has stood in solidarity with the family.
