Lynn Forbes, the mother of the late rapper AKA, took to Instagram to praise Murdah Bongz, DJ Zinhle’s “husband”, for being an exceptional stepfather to her granddaughter Kairo Forbes. Kairo is the daughter of South African DJ Ntombezinhle Jiyane, also known as DJ Zinhle, and rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, also known as AKA. AKA was tragically shot and killed outside of Wish restaurant on Florida Road in Durban on 10 February, along with his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.

After separating from DJ Zinhle, AKA began a relationship with Anele “Nelli” Tembe. Tragically, Nelli died after falling from the tenth floor of the Pepperclub Hotel in Cape Town on 11 April 2021. In 2020, DJ Zinhle began dating musician Bongani Mohosana, also known as Murdah Bongz. In 2021, the couple welcomed their daughter Asante Mohosana. In December 2021, AKA began dating rapper Nadia Nakai.

Since AKA’s death, Murdah Bongz has been a wonderful stepfather to Kairo. Lynn Forbes has been praised for her positive relationships with both DJ Zinhle and Nadia Nakai. On Thursday 27 April, she took to Instagram to praise Murdah Bongz for being a “real man”. She captioned a post of Murdah with Kairo and Asante in the pool on their family vacation with the words “It takes a real man 🙏🏽❤️”.
