‘Still no arrests in celebs’ killings’, Mzansi fears for their lives
The recent murders of prominent figures in the Tshwane area have shocked many people. In response, the Gauteng police force is actively searching for the perpetrators responsible for the vicious slayings of DJs Sumbody, Vusi Ma R5, Zoro, and Sonti Lee. Lieutenant–General Elias Mawela, the provincial commissioner, has declared that the hunt is still ongoing.
“We are calling upon those who have information to share with the detectives so that we can resolve the matters,”

The death of DJ Sumbody (Oupa John Sefoka) and Vusi Ma R5 (Itumeleng Moseou) in separate incidents of gun violence has highlighted the growing problem of gang–related crime in South Africa. DJ Sumbody was killed on 20 November in the Johannesburg suburb of Woodmead Drive and Woodland Drive, while Vusi Ma R5 was killed in Soshanguve on 30 January. Moruti (48), also known as Zoro in Mamelodi, Tshwane, was killed on 10 February.
Mawela has noted that these criminals are aware that no one will report them to the police and that each corner of the street has a member of the community functioning as an informant to the police in order to arrest those responsible for serious crimes. As the number of deaths continues to rise, it is clear that the authorities must take action to address this problem.
A well-known dancer and sangoma, Lesego Sonti, known as Sonti Lee, was shot outside a tavern in Klipgat, North West on 10 January.
Mawela said that no one had been arrested.
