AKA accused of killing Anele: Tembe family lawyer speaks out. The family of Anele Nellie Tembe, who was engaged to rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes, believed that two years ago, he pushed or threw her from the balcony of their hotel room at the Pepper Club hotel in Cape Town. According to a letter from the Tembe family’s lawyers, AKA allegedly failed to attend to Anele, who was still alive for 20 minutes after she fell to the ground.
Instead, he reportedly cleaned up the hotel room, which had blood, and partied with his friends after Anele’s passing. The family disagreed with the National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA) decision not to prosecute AKA and claimed that there was enough evidence to pursue charges against him.

The family stated that the NPA’s decision was based on false statements from the hotel receptionist and the rapper. They also alleged that the investigators ignored key evidence, including a witness statement from Rob Stefanutto, who heard an argument between a man and a woman in the rapper’s room, with Anele pleading with the male attacker to leave her alone.
Blood was discovered in the hotel room, scratch marks were found on Forbes’ body, and the distance Anele landed from the building indicated that she was pushed or thrown over the balcony. The family criticized AKA’s behavior following Anele’s death, stating that he did not attend to her and cleaned up the hotel room, while a stranger administered CPR and called for help.
The NPA declined to prosecute AKA, and the inquest into Anele’s death is ongoing. Unfortunately, AKA was fatally shot last Friday in Durban, along with his friend Tibello “Tibz” Motsoane. A public memorial service for the rapper is scheduled for Friday, followed by a private funeral on Saturday at an undisclosed location.
