Nolwazi Ngubeni, who played the manipulative Mbali on Scandal! bids farewell to the show. Her character was killed on Scandal and she took to her Instagram Timeline to thank her fans and Scandal for giving her the opportunity to shine on the small screens.
She wrote:
On Monday, 21 November 2022, I bid farewell to Scandal. One of the most fulfilling journeys of my career for many reasons.
Here’s what this journey reminded me of:
1. Performance isn’t about acting as much as it is about listening, understanding and instinct. Know and understand the story as well as your role in it. Listen and pay close attention to the other actors on the scene and commit to your responses. Instinct. The first reaction is always the right one. Don’t overthink it. Commit!
2. Gratitude. It is an honour to be able to wake up and do what you love. Show gratitude by committing to it. Show up. Excellence or nothing.
I was committed to ending on a high note. It was my only request from everyone. We don’t drop the ball. We commit ourselves to every take, whatever the circumstances. I was even specific about how I wanted my hair to look when Mbali dies. I was intentional about giving the last few weeks everything I have and I’m grateful the Scandal team provided me with a platform to do so.
Ngiyabonga guys. Yoh ngiyabonga. Thank you for opening your hearts to Mbali’s story, for receiving and seeing my work. I appreciate the time you take to watch and invest in her story.

Nolwazi Ngubeni’s lengthy goodbye message got Mzansi talking, and many called her the GOAT who nailed her character on Scandal to perfection. She joined Scandal as a supporting actress, did justice to her character, and fast became one of Mzansi’s favourite actresses.
