Late rap superstar Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, better known as AKA, and his former manager Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane were sadly gunned down, and now the Forbes family has released details of their funeral.
The family is grateful for the love and support received from fans and loved ones of the Fela In Versace hitmaker, but the loss of AKA and Tibz has left the industry in disarray, as they were pioneers who opened doors for many other artists.
The Forbes family announced that Bongani “Murdah Bongz or Mörda” Mohosana, husband of DJ Zinhle, will not participate in AKA’s memorial and funeral service due to cultural protocol. AKA’s Instagram account revealed service details and invited everyone who wishes to honor and celebrate the life of the late rapper.

The family is thankful for the support they have received so far from their community. It is heartbreaking to lose such a talented and influential figure, but AKA’s legacy will undoubtedly live on.
“We as the Forbes family would like to acknowledge the outpouring of love we have received over the past few days. Kiernan wasn’t just loved by us as a family but by the nation,” they wrote in part.
They continued by saying they would like to celebrate his life with everyone who loved him, “…his memorial will therefore be open to the public as well as streamed online. Kiernan will be laid to rest in a private provincial funeral on Saturday, 18 February 2023.”
