Pitch Black Afro, whose real name is Thulani Ngcobo has been found guilty of culpable homicide for the death of his wife Catherine Modisane.
Thulani Ngcobo was facing charges of murder and defeating the ends of justice.
Ngcobo was standing trial at the South Gauteng High Court for killing his wife Catherine “Trisha” Modisane at a Bed and Breakfast establishment in Yeoville, Johannesburg, two years ago.
Thulani Ngcobo’s mother, who constantly attended his court cases was nowhere in sight.
The judge, J. Du Plessis said he could not find that the rapper had intentionally wanted to kill his wife Catherine Modisane because both of them were heavily intoxicated on the day of the incident.
Judge, J. Du Plessis said it is clear from the postmortem report that she was killed from blunt force trauma to the head.

He said the rapper was angry with the deceased, and he committed his actions out of anger.
However, he said Ngcobo ought to have known that his actions might lead to her death.
“The accused is therefore found guilty of culpable homicide and not murder. He is found not guilty on count 2,” said the judge.
Pitch Black Afro did not receive the judgement lightly, dressed in a black tracksuit and a light-blue mask after the judge left the chambers he continued to claim that the police forced him to admit to the crime.
“I won’t take this lying down. Bayang’sukela.. They’ve wasted one-and-a-half-year of my life,” he said.
